Berlin Wall Section

5/17/17

This set of photos was taken on May 9, 2017 at 9:23 AM.

The location was inside one of the many entrances to the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC.

The "Take It!" came from my surprise in seeing this wonderful symbol having used an entrance that I never had used before in accessing the building.

The After Take:  I am old enough to have been alive when the wall went up and when it came down. To be able to see and touch this actual piece of this history was fascinating. Lots of memories flooded into my head as I spent some time viewing this 9 foot high part of the history of our world.

This city has so much to see and do.  I encourage all who have not been here - to try to make a visit. To those who have been here, the city is constantly changing (mostly for the better) so please come again, I do not think you will be disappointed.

The lessons we can learn from history bear repeating in many forms.

All my best to everyone,

Bruce

They have a large piece in one of the Smithsonians too. We see it every year for our school trip.

I wasn't around when it went up, but I sure remember it coming down. I remember watching the news and seeing people celebrate.

There are some very sad stories that resulted from that wall. I have seen a few documentaries on the subject. Families were ripped apart because they couldn't get home to the other side.

I actually have a small piece of the wall; a small chunk with some graffiti on it. I know there are pieces of it which can be purchased, however they are very small. Maybe an inch.
