An Easy Pairing

This photo was taken on March 20th at 4:50pm.

The location was in my living room in Beltsville, Maryland.

The "Take It!"  Came as a welcome pleasant surprise as I returned to my home after having picked up this very large wine bottle from a former neigbor who had done me the favor of consuming its contents with the help of some of her friends.  I had previously bought the full bottle thinking it might make the foundation for some sort of craft project.

I do not drink any alcohol as for some reason at about age 40 it started to disagree with me. I was fortunate enough to have neighbors in the near by town of my previous residence who enjoyed wine - and were gracious enough to consume the contents of some wine bottles for which I had a project in mind.

When I walked into my living room which is filled with IKEA book shelves of the cubicle variety - I looked for a place to put the empty bottle while a project was found for it to be a player.  I had the antique student lamp (which had been converted from kerosene fuel, to electricity many years ago) - on top of a set of the IKEA shelves, to occasionally provide light - but more to be an accent piece.  It was as if the bottle spoke to me and said it would like to reside next to the lamp until a decision was made on its future.  I took the cue and made a little more space available next to the lamp and made the placement of the bottle along with the cork from it.

The resulting harmony with the curvature of the outside of the bottle seems to make a great match up with the profile of the shade and brass of the lamp.

The After Take: I have shown this photo to numerous people and have been met with almost universal wonder in how pleasant this unusual match up happens to be

It looks like I am going to have to find another bottle for any new project - for this one has found its happy place.

All my best to everyone,

Bruce

Replace that wine with a good scotch and it looks a lot like my relaxation corner in my home office.

My body told me to stop drinking a couple years ago. We made a deal. I cut back to weekends only and it stops giving me problems lol.

Oooo, a wine I've never heard of. I love trying new wines so I'm going to have to find this one.
