These photos were taken at 6:45 am on January 25, 2013.
The location was in the corridor outside a meeting room in a very nice DC hotel.
The "Take It!" was a lucky catching of my eye by the reflection of the warmin dome on a breakfast buffet that had been set up in a corridor outside a meeting room. It was the artwork on the wall that made the big jump out possible. I had seen arrangements using this type of warmer many many times before but do not ever recall them being next to a wall that had framed pictures on it. part of the fun of this shoot was positioning the camera to make certain there were no hints given such as seen in the lower photo which includes the hinging mechanism that might have been a give away.
The After Take: To those I showed the upper shot to, no one was able to guess what is was. After having played this game for almost a year, I am now getting a fair idea of just when the viewer that cannot identify the shot needs to have the facts revealed. The point being, when that moment is reached, show the viewer what it is all about without further delay. By having this quick show it takes it out of a prolonged agaony of guessing and quickly into a shared joy in the relevation. I almost always tell them that I would have never guessed it either. The last thing I want to do is have any sort of thought available that I am smarter than anyone else; I learned a long time ago, I am not.
I hope you have enjoyed this bit of the unexpected, it is big fun for me to happen upon these pieces of the unusual and frame them up with the object of how I would be confused. What is as much fun, is putting together the back up shots. many times the back up photos become as interesting or even more so than the primary mystery photo.
