The location was in the lobby
of a brand new luxury hotel in the marble lined welcoming area adjacent to the drive in entrance.
The "Take It!" came after
several visits to this new masterpiece as had to get used to the rythm of the grain in this black and white marble that I believe all came from a single quary. I will find out more about the
source as time goes along. This fellow is one of the first figures I was able to determine as being close enough to a human profile as I could get at that time.
He is looking to the left and
appears to be wearing glasses.
I find marble to be one of the
most interesting mediums to treasure hunt in. There is just something about the forces of nature that were put into play in forming the stone - and then to have it sliced into by we
humans and have it reveal its inner most secrets is a constant marvel to me.
I find it facinating that
figures sculpted in marble, seem to call for the stone to be unblemished white, I cannot help but wonder what a piece would look like if it were carved from stone that had the head in this
pure white stone and then from the neck down (in the same piece of stone) have the rest of the body include the black randomness as is found in the stone in the example in the photograph
featured. I think it would be a stunning wonder to view. Full body art - much like is done with tattoo's only a full infussion rather than just surface as is done with a variety of
levels of skill in the artestry of tattoing.
While I muse at what could be
- I am awed at what is presented to us in the now.

I see a woman in the marble, couldn’t make out a man though.

My daughter spent a good 45 minutes looking at this one. She has such a fun imagination, finding all kinds of things in photos like these.

This photo reignited the debate in our household to redo our tiling. I want marble tiles so bad it hurts!

My first thought looking at it was one of the Ninja Turtles. Anyone else see that?

I’m just not good at these ‘spot the shape’ pictures.

I noticed a lot of your photographs are in or near hotels. Can you recommend an upscale hotel in the DC area? We are taking our vacation there next year and have decided to go all out.
