Brown Bag Duck

4/25/22

This photo was taken in April.

The location was curbside in the City Center District of Washington DC.

The "The Take It!" came as I stepped out of my car next to one of the great hotels which I have visited numerous time over the course of years. The shape the bag took having been discarded has a process that defies imagination. I can only think that it was initially crumpled up by the tosser as the first step - the rest is beyond me. I am happy to have seen it as somewhat resembling a duck and hope that others can too.

I am entirely open to hearing other observations as street shaping is very dynamic and so much a game of honoring the eye of the beholder.

Wishing everyone my very best,

Bruce

When I pulled this up on my phone to show my kid the website and photo loaded up sideways because my phones orientation is all messed up (time for a new phone) and in that moment she said it looked like a dog with flappy ears. Now that is all she can see.

PS: My wife Sally is out of town so she may not see this until she gets back.

I wish I could show some of these to our students. The little ones would have a blast with these.

Ever wonder what kind of sauce is on the inside of that napkin, or others like it? I imagine the moments before it landed on the ground, someone wiping catsup or mustard off their mouth and tossing it.
