A Roadside Pond

The location was on a rural road near Front Royal, Virginia:

The "Take It!"  is easy to explain. I was in a hurry to get home and had a drive ahead of me of over an hour.  It was late in the afternoon and the sun was in that place where it is bright in the sky but is starting to cast long shadows at ground level.  I went by this setting and found myself stopping and turning around to come back and do what I could to capture the many textures of sun brilliance matched with cloud shadows along with that touch of green offered by the small tree.  So many contrasts, especially with some of them reflected in the pond.  The fence seemed to also play an important role in this photo which I enjoy looking at almost as much as I did when standing there.

The After Take:  So often I have to talk myself into slowing down and allowing visual treasures to take their place in my mind.  Sometimes they are so fleeting that I wonder if I actually was a witness.  I am ever so fortunate to have a camera with me at almost all times to sometimes give me the luxury of a return visit to see some things once again - and often see something additional that I did not see before.

To be able to share these sights is a treasure.

Thanks for taking a moment to join me in this roadside moment.

WOW!!! This looks a lot like a little pond my grandfather had when I was a child. My siblings and I used to swim in it during summer vacation.

Maybe its because I saw the location you took this picture and the time of year but the water just has a frigid look to it regardless.
