A Call for Help

5/3/20

This photo was taken on May 3, 2020 at 1:20 PM.

The location was on the floor of my living room in my home in Beltsville, Maryland.

The "Take It!" came from my wanting to show a sample of the type of greeting card I plan to put into the market place. I have found a company which puts out high quality sleeves in which I can slide an actual print of one of my 4X6 photos that has lots of space for one to write on.  I know there are lots of people doing this already but I think I will be able to offer something different.

My quest for help comes from the need to select 12 photos* to be used in various assortments of cards which are to be offered in a special box of a dozen.  My proposal is to set up a contest of sorts for those of you who view this site and through the years may have picked out some favorite pictures which have been featured as photo/stories in the past.  I am going to ask for those who would like to participate to go back and look through the archive and send to us via the comment means already in place - your 12 selections.  We will need to ask you to reference the Names of the photos, along with the number attached to them, and the season to which they have been assigned.

There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes given out.  The judging will be made simple by having the first place be given to the entry which has the most of the same photo which comes in from all the entrants.  In the event of a tie - the earliest comment time stamp by the sender will be the winner.  The second place will go to the entry which has the most of a photo different than that of the first place winner - with the same time stamp determinant to win this prize.  The third place will be the entry which has the third highest number of the same photo/stories selected but like the second place - does not include the photo/stories selections from either the first or second place winners. All photos in each entry must be different.  One entry per person - please.

The prizes will be the same for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  This way we can eliminate those awful podium situations where someone may be way taller than the other two participants who are up there with them - which always makes for a lop sided photo.  Thus - the prize for all will be box of the being created photo/story cards. I need to note there will be a dozen appropriately sized envelopes included in the box.

On the back side of each of the cards there will be a tastefully printed note in a small size with an easy to read font of the suggestion - that should  someone be interested in learning more about the photo on the face of the card - to go to our web site and look it up on the listing. The photo/story number, the season, and the web site address,  will be given - and nothing more as I do not want to serve as too much of a distraction from the intent of the card to the recipient. It is my sincere hope those who receive cards will take the opportunity to take a look at the site - and thus get in on some of the fun we have been having for all these years.

It is my sincere hope that while most of us are still at home - that the time to go through the archive to make selections and send them off to us will be a diversion from some of what may have become routine.

I send out my gratitude for your help - for this is one of the final things that must be done in wrapping up what I have been considering doing for over 10 years and am finally getting around to doing.

Bruce

Please include in your selections some photos of:  Clouds, Shadows, Trees, Flowers, Blossoms,  Asphalt based art,  Street Mach ea,  Reflections, and the rest is up to you.

This was fun, I got to go back and look through some I had never seen before. My husband and I will both contribute our 12 choices but if we "win" please give our prize to someone else. We talked about it and would rather support you and your website by buying a box when they become available.

This is a big undertaking, how long do we have to make our submissions?

Okay, here are mine. I admit I did look at other peoples choices first, and took some cues from them, there are so many too choose from.

I am pretty new here so I do not have 12 favorites yet but if we have a week or so I can flip through as many as I can and let you know.

    Hello everyone,

Thank you for all your submissions so far, we really appreciate them. Gabe has asked how long we are allowing submissions and a number of you have commented that you will look through the library and build a list, so we figured we would let you all know how long the contest will remain open.

The deadline for submissions is 6/03/20, one month from the date we posted the contest.

Thank you and keep them coming!

    Hello Again Everyone,

We realized we needed to hide the selections from other readers for now, so as not to give an unfair advantage to those that post after others. We have gone through and hidden your selections, but rest assured when you post them, we will receive them and make note of your selections.

    Thank you!

    Hello everyone!

We had some technical difficulties that prevented us from approving posted comments. The issue has been fixed and any comments you have left will now properly show on the website. There were two final entries posted before the deadline, however the technical issues prevented them from showing publicly. Those who posted them will be allowed entry into the contest.

Thank you for all your entries. The contest is now closed. In a week we will post the winners, ask them to email us so we can send them their prize, and will remove the "(Hidden Entry)" label allowing everyone to see what pictures were voted for.
