Same Place - New Face

6/07/21

This set of photos was taken on March 3, 2021 at 6:18 AM.

The location was in City Center Washington DC.

The "Take It!" came after having watched this set of buildings go through a huge transition.  They were taken down to the steel structure and rebuilt completely.  I can only begin to imagine the cost savings in doing it this way vs tearing the old down and starting all over again - as I have seen done in other parts of the city.

The new surface has a set of lines drawn upon it via lighting which I find to make them interesting in the darkened sky of night.  As morning arrives - they are also showing a vibrancy which seems to add energy to was a rather staid corridor to transverse the core of the city.

It is great to watch the city slowly coming to life again.  The trauma of the virus making travel next to impossible which ended tourism and convention attendance matched with the stay at home orders - made the city an almost ghost town.  There are some encouraging signs of life with more traffic and the beginning's of travel which turns on some lights in hotels.

Faith is being restored for the future and it is wonderful to see happening.

Best regards to everyone,

Bruce

Wow those highlighted edges look very futuristic, like a scene out of Blade Runner or something.

I think it'd be cool if you took a photo of one of these buildings being built every day you were out there. Then you could make a really cool time lapse of it coming together.

Kinda looks like someone cut through it with a butter knife.

Was this building one you took a photo of and shared in the past, as it was being built?

Now that it looks like our school will be sending 8th graders to Washington DC again next Spring, I'll have an opportunity to try and find it, along with some of the other pictures you've taken.

It has a sort of optical illusion effect going on.

Thank you to everyone for your observations on this photograph and story.

The building is one block over from the location of the other building which has been written about before. The other one has the curved glass windows which give it some cool distinction. This one has the lighting strips which add some wow to would otherwise be just another glass windowed box.

    Wishing everyone my best,
    Bruce
