Shadow Show of All in a Row

11/15/20

This photo was taken on Nov 4, 2010 at 8:07 AM.

The location was at the entrance to a now closed very large convention Hotel in the City Center of Washington DC.

The  "Take It !" came as I stopped by this once very busy hotel which has been silenced for the time being by the pandemic. What struck me was the symmetry of the morning shadows upon the concrete uprights which are there to separate pedestrians from cars at what usually is a very busy entrance.  To see the only thing moving were shadows in a row was a slow show of its own.

The travel and hospitality industry has taken a huge hit and will need for everyone to do what they can to help bring an end to this debilitating virus.

I hope everyone can put politics aside and help us all rid ourselves and our country of this problem.

Wishing everyone my very best,

Bruce

I've always really liked the shadow pictures. I then tell myself to look for them during the day, but never seem to be able to do it. So coming here I can do it vicariously through you.

I wonder if they had this in mind when they designed it.

Maybe I thought of this because you mentioned politics but this picture, to me anyway, represents what we need to do to fix our division and problems. If we were all willing to come together and work in unison, carry each others burdens and pain (the shadows) instead of tear each other down, we'd be better off for it.

I had not considered the impact Covid-19 would have on the hotel industry. I really hope they can recover.
