This photo was taken on Saturday November 20, 2021 at 9 AM.
The location was approximately 5 miles from my house in an outlying area from Washington DC.
The "Take It!" Came from my having taken this back road to avoid freeway traffic for a few miles on my way to my part time job. I had stopped at an intersection after having passed through
some very light rain ( some rain drops are visible on the side window glass on my car ). What had happened was - I had traveled on this road on several consecutive Saturdays and seen a line
of cars that all funneled into the parking lot of an elementary school. The line was always orderly with police making certain that the cars followed the orange traffic coned path set up -
on the way into the parking lot. In the past I had not really paid attention to what was going on - but on this day - I noticed it was a food distribution location - for those in
When I took this photo I had a chance to collect my thoughts enough to try to get a photo of the line of cars in waiting and had arrived at the next closest intersection where there was a traffic
light. The line stretched to the intersection and did a wrap around the corner to a distance which I could not see. I took a photo hoping to highlight the bumper to bumper line - but
had to make due with sighting the cars in the far side of the photo as other cars pulled up to the traffic light and were waiting for it to change to green.
The photo turned out to be for a sad reason however - the sky was filled with jet trails from morning take off's and the sun was caught behind one of them - just enough to diffuse the light to
allow it to not wash out the photo. The cars, clouds and telephone lines all seemed to come together to give me a title to this thought provoking moment that speaks so much about our times.
Wishing everyone my very best,
