Butt Head

2/17/19

This photo was taken on January 26, 2019 at 10:32 AM.

The location was in the City Center District of Washington DC.

The "Take It!" came from the details formed through the wear placed upon this cigarette butt which was located in the street in a not so highly trafficked spot. The wear had caused a tear in the paper which helped to form both an eye as well as a nose. With just a little bit of imagination the top of the image had some hint of hair.

As a former smoker - I can say with relief that there are far fewer people smoking out in public. This has cut down the number of cigarette butts randomly disposed of on the sidewalks and streets. I am in sincere hopes this trend continues for the betterment of us all. Had I not finally stopped ( after numerous attempts ) 38 years ago - I am not certain I would be alive today.

For anyone who may be still smoking and having difficulty quitting - please do not give up - as it is a tough habit to shake - but the results are well worth it. I have to also say - even after all these years - there are occasions when I pass by someone who it smoking - and it smells inviting. This is my way of saying one must always be on their guard to not fall back into the habit.

Here his hoping you will forgive my taking a moment to stand on my soap box.

Wishing good health and happiness to all.

Bruce

I’m embarrassed I had to have my husband explain this one. Didn’t connect the dots with the cigarette butt even though you mentioned it.

My husband quit after 26 years, good on ya for doing it. I hear it’s very difficult to stop. He said it was the hardest thing he’s ever had to do.

I quit smoking about a year and a half ago and can relate to the smell. Sometimes I find myself gravitating toward someone nearby smoking just so I can catch a whiff of that heavenly smell.
