Triple Treat: Sun, Snow, and Shadows

2/20/22

This photo was taken on Saturday January 1st, 2022 at 3:16 PM.

The location was in the City Center District in Washington DC

The "Take It!" came after having seen this shadow formation before as a reflection from a wall of windows on the hotel which I was parked immediately in front of. Somehow this show was different in several ways. It was a different time of day - which seemed to find the sun in a better position to reflect off the windows and through the leafless trees in front of this white building to make the shadows more pronounced. The other big factor was the snow on the ground in front of the building seemed to make the take more color seamless as the ground was white instead of the usual off setting brown or green from the lawn area in front of the building.

The total effect to me had the structure looking like a hand painted set one would see in a theater production - which was large and very impressive.

Wishing everyone my very best,

Bruce

I really wish we had architecture like that around here. DC is such a great place to be if you're in to that sort of blending of different architectural styles.

It really is a triple treat lol, usually you offer one of them in a photo, occasionally two.

I wonder if that was someone's house a couple hundred years ago.

Can you do a follow up photo during the late spring or early summer? I'd love to see the contrast.
