The Shadow Hand and the Footprints

The location was from my front porch at my home in Bethesda, Maryland.

The "Take It!" came from looking out the front window at the fresh snow with the sun having come out to cast shadows wherever it could.  The intersecting of the shadow from the branches from a tree with a set of footprints created by the mail person was just too good to pass up.  When I first looked at the scene I did not see the similarity of a shadow hand ( with a little stretching of the imagination - lol ).  Later I saw that there were four fingers and a thumb to make it complete.

The After Take: To those that I have shown this to - all thought it was quite cool. Shadows on snow are such a visual treat for me.  Snow can be such a clean white canvas that the edges on images can be quite clear and all sorts of new ways of looking at things available.   When there is no snow - this sort of sharp image is just not available.

This different way of looking at things is just one of the many advantages that are available with snow.  While there are down sides - I like all the upsides.  Seeing the clusters of children bringing their assorted snow equipment, past my house on their way to the nearby school yard where there is a bit of a hill is big time fun.  Seeing the excitement of anticipation on their faces is a treat.  To see them dragging themselves home after exhausting themselves is also big fun - as their is also a look of satisfaction from effort well expended.

Hope you are warm wherever you are.

All the very best,

Bruce

I can also see a stick figure person in the shadow of the tree as well. Look closely and see if you can see it.

@livin4love I think I can see the stick figure. The head to the left of the footprints with the thumb pointing at it. The arms below the head and neck, legs begin in the foot prints.

    Hi Livin and Jason
Thanks for looking at this photo more closely. I think I see a second stick figure which stretches from left to right for the entire width of the photo. The legs are at the far right and the arms are uneven in size with one arm being the thumb of the hand and the other in stick proportion. The head is the round circle. Thanks again for pushing the envelope. I am constantly amazed at what others can see that pass me by entirely.
