Got My Eye On You

This photo was taken in early December 2011

The location was in a planter between the sidewalk and a large Headquarters building on a busy street on Capital Hill in Washington DC.

The "Take it!" was a sort of peer pressure brought to bear by nature. I was walking down the sidewalk being a silent minder of everyone else's business, along with my own, and I happened to look over at the first of a run of trees in a long planting area. There were the scar tissue eyes on the first tree, matched by every tree in the run as they are all the same type of tree. How utterly strange to walk down the sidewalk and have all these eyes unmovingly fall upon me. I slowed down and found the best of the eyes and have shared some of them with you in smaller pictures under the featured eye. Could this be "The walk of Same?"

The After Take: This is more strange than I can believe. I now purposly park near this run of trees so that I can have yet another look at the look. I think in time we will reach an understanding, one bourne out of mutual respect. By the way, at the end of the run of these trees there is a bunch of rose bushes. On Friday there were just a few little roses still in bloom. I took a chance and lifted one to my nose for a whiff, and sure enough, there was that sweet rose fragrance. I wonder how many of our very busy residence have taken a moment to stop and smell the roses at this location. Please do, you have a treat in store.

Thanks for joining me as we grow to like so many good things this life has to offer.
