The Answer to "You Must be Kidding!"

1/8/15

This set of photos was taken on any number of mornings (in my mind - lol).

The location is in my bedroom in my house in Bethesda, Maryland.

The "Take It!" came from years of viewing and using this bit of self deception remedy.

Yes, it is my rendition of the old "use two alarm clocks" approach with the set up being the night before, after either a long and tiring day or getting to bed very late when there is a get up early ( or even the regular time ) needed on the next day.

That little faithful alarm clock on the table next to the bed goes off just like it usually does, but this time, because more sleep is wanted - suddenly I reach for it and shut it off !  with a variety of words or comments.  For this story I have chosen a polite one - lol.

To help assure that I get up - I place a second alarm clock in a location that requires me to get out of bed to turn it off !  I set the two clocks for the same time so that I do not give myself any " snooze setting " cuz once I start waking up - I want to make certain to use the momentum to get all the way up and get going with the day for which this urgent call has been made.  I think there has only been one time that I went through both alarms and went back to bed.  Usually it works.

Here is hoping you have a fool proof method for getting yourself up when you absolutely have to.

Best wishes,

Bruce

That second alarm clock would be broken if it were mine. I'd be throwing things at it.

Thats an interesting strategy. I have seen some cool alarm clocks that won't turn off until you do something. Similar strategy.

Thats too funny! I should probably do that. I use my smart phone and I am constantly pressing snooze on it.

I'd shoot the one on the bicycle.

Interesting technique! My 15 year old son has an alarm that shoots shaped blocks out onto the floor and won't turn off until he gets up, collects the blocks, and places them in the correct shaped holes. It even has a battery back up in the event he tries to just rip the cord out, which he has!

My Husband does something very similar. He sets one alarm and the minute I hear it go off I also go in and help bring him into this world. He seems to appreciate it.

Sf1967 I must say this bike is one that I think will stand the test of time and lots of hours of use. Now all that I need is another alarm strategy to get me onto the seat of that thing and putting it and me to what I bought it for. I will be doing some modifications to it - and reporting back to everyone on my progress. Yes, this will happen within this year. I am in hopes you are getting lots of benefits out of your bike.

Sally: Lol - believe me - I have the same urge - however at that time of the morning my aim is so lame, all I would wind up doing is having to pick everything that was a projectile, back up off the floor and the clock would wind up continuing with its laughter which is in the form of that awful beeping.

Jim: Thanks for the complement on the strategy. It took some time to bring it to where it is now. I hope it continues to work. Each day I use it, is a new test - lol.

Livin4love: Who ever invented the snooze concept is either a saint or the devil - depending on what day this feature is used. For me - it is a wasted bit of genius. Hopefully for you - it is just the right bit of help it is intended to bring.

    Gabe: Well put.

Yuppie7: It looks like you are one lucky guy to have such a brave gf.

MHampy: I think your son has a great future ahead of him. To have that kind of self imposed determination at his age is very admirable. I would enjoy learning of the brand name of this get up game maker. Please make a follow up post and let us all know - we may have some new buyers, taken from his lead.

Teri: What a great way of expressing the help process you bring to your husband. He is a lucky fellow.

Thanks to everyone for taking this set of photos up. I sometimes wonder about some of the things that I do that I think others might get a laugh out of or find helpful, but for the most part - I just let them fly as I cannot have natures wonders be the exclusive. There is just too much other good stuff out here, and there to share.

Thanks for your kind and interesting responses.

    Wishing you all my best

    Bruce
