Railing Curl

9/8/19

This photo was taken on August 13, 2019 at 10:20 AM.

The location was at an off ramp from the Beltway near Washington DC.

The "Take It!" came from having observed many a twisted guard rail from a vehicle hitting - never have I seen one that was this distinctive in its end result.  It almost looks like some sort of sculpture made up by intent.

Capturing this photo took me about 6 attempts as it is located at a very busy off ramp and I was never able to stop and do a calm take on it as there has always been a car behind me and the area off to the side of the painted line is not really large enough to comfortably hold my car to enable me that luxury. So, with each time I made an attempt to catch this oddity - it was on the fly with me plunging the take button on the camera when I thought it was in focus. I think I was lucky to have gotten in the 6 attempts - lol.

Here is hoping the photo serves to amuse as it has me. I cannot help but wonder if the individual that created this masterpiece was able to get out of their vehicle after it happend and look at this mangled curl and have a sense of wonder at the result.

Best wishes,

Bruce
