Imperfection Becomes Artwork

The "Take It!" came from having passed by this section of illuminated outside wall of a building many times in the dawning hours of the day and viewing it thinking it was simple lighting wall wash of muted shades of colors.  It was only upon closer inspection that I discovered the irregularity in the surface of the wall due to the laying of the bricks in a way which was not the usual smooth finish which is one of the hallmarks of a good mason.  It is from this bit of a ripple effect that many years later someone decided to highlight by great lighting and bring interest to what had been a blank wall.

On a few occasions the display came relatively close to the layering and colors which were on display in the sky as a special dawn was breaking with the sun lighting up the cloud cover of the morning.  I once thought it might have been a camera projection onto the wall.

Most of the time - a reveal of this sort is a pleasant surprise.  This was one of the very good ones.

Wishing everyone my best

Bruce

PS:  I am a big fan of outside wall murals. The artistry involved at such a scale has always amazed me. We here at Whutzzat hope you all had a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

Are they painting something there, like an advertisement of some sort?

I used to see those all the time in NYC, but they were usually accompanied by a mural or painting of some sort.

The shadows cast from some of the bricks, along with the lighting hitting the other bricks looks like an art project. Really interesting.
