Roof Worms

These photos were taken at 11: 45 am in June 2012

The location was in downtown Roslyn, Virginia.

The "Take It!" came after several years of looking at these reflections which have been cast on this unusual canvas.  The curved roof is quite different and adds emphasis to these elongated and separated reflections cast at a certain time of day.  The time of year also plays a part in how the reflections are located and their intensity.  Most unusual is an understatement.

The After Take: To all those to whom I was about to show these to, I asked a preliminary question.  Had they ever seen or seen a picture of  a tapeworm before?  It is amazing that all had seen such a photo. The other part of the universality of the response was how quickly this memory of having seen such a photo came to the listeners mind.  When I then showed them the photo the reaction was almost always the same.  A jaw dropping recognition of the similarity and I think almost as much, the thought that I would see them and make that comparison.  Everyone of course wanted to know exactly where this building was located.  I do not think that anyone wanted to know this so that they could go and see them for themselves, just that they wanted to be able to fix where this strange phenomenon was and could be found.

If buildings could speak, I think these neighbors would get a big laugh out of putting on the show that they do for the amusement of anyone that would want to look at them that way.

Thanks for joining us for the current photo presentation. You are cordially invited to return Friday, August 31st for a new picture that we hope you will enjoy.

Wishing you all my best,

Bruce
