Reflections on a Green Light

This photo was taken in the fall of 2011 at about 4:15 am

The location was on Rt 355 in Rockville, Maryland

The "Take It!"  came from the double down effect of the wet pavement on the overhead lights. The variety and splashes of colors on this near vacant street was simply grand. I was one of the few out there when I got out of my car in the middle of this intersection in the light rain to capture this photo. The majority of the lights give off a red or white light, while the light immediately in front of me had turned green.  Funny how it is the only green light in the mix.

The After Take: This is a shot that when shown to my panel of personal viewers here locally I got an almost universal response. One of eyes narrowing to bring in any focus that might be able  to be put together for viewing this scene. The photo is not particularly profound, but is one rarely captured as I think I am one of many who just would take this as all being a matter of what was out there at the time.  All after a little while of taking it in, seemed to like it.

I  cannot leave this photo with out addressing how near comical it is to be out there at a time of night when almost no one else is on the road and be stopped by a red light at an intersection where only you are at it. The law calls for me to stop and I do, but that does not mean that I do not harbor thoughts of either stopping and making certain no one else is approaching the intersection and moving on through it,  to blowing right through it, devil may care!  I have to admit that it is my sometime luck that if I were to opt for the go through choices that there would be a police officer that I did not see, just happen to be there, and catch me.  Most of us do a certain amount of kicking of ourselves when we get a ticket, getting one in this situation would find me being kicked by both of my feet at once.

Here is hoping you enjoy this ever so common view that has been seen by almost all of us at some time or another.

Thanks for joining us for the current photo presentation. You are cordially invited to return Frisday, September 14th for a new picture that we hope you will enjoy.

Wishing you a great day,

Bruce

Cool shot! Very lucky to be out at a time you can just stop in the road and get an image like this.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I want you all to know how much I value what it is that you have to say. It is your candid observations that help give me inspiration. The site is coming close to being a year old. Thanks again for helping to make this a very humble and happy year for me.

    With every best wish,

    Bruce
