Whileawaying at the San Francisco Airport

7/18/22

These photos were taken on June 24, 2022.

The location was at the San Francisco Airport United Terminal boarding area.

The "Take It!" came as I had spent some time in the boarding area having arrived early for my flight to return to the east. One of the items that caught my eye was the huge mirror exterior finished light fixtures hanging from the ceiling in the lounge section where the boarding gates are located.

I took some photos of the fixtures from the location of my original seating in the lounge - then after contemplating what I was looking at and a different potential - moved my self to a seat in a closer location under the lights. From my new vantage point - I took several zoom photos up to the mirror finish of the light shade in order to get a long distance picture from the bounce off the glass mirror to see if I could get an uncrowded rendition of "Where's Waldo" type of shot - featuring myself - as being the subject for the search result. Amazingly - it worked - lol.

I enjoyed the result of the experiment - and asked a complete stranger who was sitting near me - if she was familiar with and liked the " Where is Waldo " series. Her quizzled reply was that she enjoyed them as a child. I then showed her what I had done - and she just- seemed to light up with the game of the entire matter and the unexpected reacquainting of a joy of some time ago. I gave her a card for the site - which she eagerly accepted and had to scoot to board her plane.

Life is ever so good.

Wishing you all my best,

Bruce

Thank you to everyone for your kind comments. They are a constant inspiration for me. Sally - I hope you can find some of the Waldo books to share with your Daughter and Jim. I think you will all enjoy the exercise. Jim - I made the word up as it seemed to fit what was going on - lol. MHampy - I hope your Students enjoy the photo and the story behind it. Better yet - hope they will try to duplicate it using themselves as the subject. SF1967- Yes it is a gift for which I am grateful. I am rarely bored. Gabe - please give me more info on " those things " so that I can answer your question. Many thanks. GpaJake - yes that is me at the foot of the big column in the upper left of the photo. I have my arms angled upward with hands coming together as am holding the camera. Thank you all again and best wishes. Bruce

Hi Gabe: Thank you for your follow up note. The Mirrored items are the shade part for ceiling light fixtures. I had never seen anything like them either. They definitely caught my eye and turned into the chance to have some fun. All my very best to you. Bruce
